Raising Your Bottom Line
What's hard now becomes super simple later...
As we focus on growth, one of our key goals should be to “raise our bottom line”.
What do we mean by this?
Well it’s quite simple.
Keep improving your skills slowly over time so that even on your worst day, you can achieve a certain standard of excellence.
Imagine a pro athlete. Perhaps Michael Jordan or Lebron James. On their best day they might score 50 points. But even on a bad day they will score at least 20. Which is still pretty good.
That’s because their “bottom line” is so much higher than that of other players.
The concept here is simple yet powerful: by continually improving our skills, we create a new, higher baseline for our work quality and output.
Imagine each project or task as an opportunity to elevate your own baseline.
By investing in skill development, taking on challenging tasks, and embracing constructive feedback, you’re enhancing your own abilities.
You become so good that you simply cannot produce bad work, even if you tried.
Over time, this steady progression ensures that what was once a peak performance becomes the new norm.
I encourage each of you to identify an area where you’d like to strengthen your skills.
By focusing on self-improvement, you create an environment where high-quality output is your minimum standard.
