Maximise or Optimise
Precision or speed? Take your pick.
Being perfect is a pretty attractive goal.
Especially for Type A personalities.
We thrive on precision and excellence, finding satisfaction in getting things just right. Anything less than optimal often feels unacceptable — after all, that’s what likely led us to pursue demanding careers where standards are high.
But maybe it’s time to rethink perfection as the ultimate goal.
Instead of striving for flawless outcomes, what if we focused on maximising what’s already within our reach?
This shift doesn’t mean settling for mediocrity. Definitely not.
It means recognising the value in the resources, opportunities, and time we have right now.
By making the most of what’s in front of us, we can keep moving forward, even when things aren’t perfect.
Sometimes, “good enough” really is good enough.
Don’t get me wrong, it’s not about lowering standards — it’s about adapting, prioritising, and getting things done when life throws chaos our way.
Perfection has its place, so don’t abandon it entirely. But when progress matters more than polish, give yourself permission to let go of the perfect and embrace the possible.
Maximise your efforts. Then move on.
Because sometimes, progress isn’t about getting everything perfect. It’s about getting it done.
