Don’t Give Yourself Brain Damage
Don't bang your head against the wall.
Hey friend
Welcome to 200 Word Tuesdays. Where we give you short, actionable ideas to implement in your project management. We promise that you haven’t heard these powerful ideas anywhere else. Let’s get started.
Working at a big company can sometimes feel like banging your head against a wall. You spot processes that are inefficient or systems that just don’t work well, and you’re eager to improve them.
But when you try to make changes, you quickly find yourself blocked by layers of bureaucracy. It can be frustrating and exhausting.
This is a common experience for many when they first start at a large organization.
I’ve gone through it a few times.
You see all the potential for things to be better and you want to fix them right away. However, constantly fighting against the system can leave you drained.
Instead of battling uphill all the time, focus on what you can control. Find ways to enjoy your time at work. Learn as much as you can, both from the job and from the people around you. Build relationships with interesting colleagues who can support your growth.
Pick your battles, take care of your well-being, and grow in ways that are fulfilling without unnecessary stress.
But don’t give yourself brain damage.
See you next week,
Jonathan (The Effective Project Manager)
👏 Looking for a single place to manage all your project information?
I love Notion. I write these articles there, but more importantly, I manage my projects there. Over the years I’ve created a pretty comprehensive Notion Hub. I stripped out all the sensitive information and made the most important functionality available for download. Check out this Notion Project Management Hub.
